The Mechanism of Mind is a book by Edward de Bono, first published in 1969.

It’s one of his earlier works, where he explores how the brain works as a self-organizing system rather than just a logical processor. De Bono introduces models and metaphors (like patterns of water flowing over a landscape) to explain how thoughts form, how habits and patterns of thinking become established, and how creativity can arise by breaking away from fixed patterns.
